Snack Tectonics

link from today

Divergent Plate Boundary- You've made a rift or crack in the ocean floor. Magma oozes up from below and makes new ocean floor and creates underwater mountain ranges.

Transform Plate Boundary- Plates move past each other and get stuck on each other. It creates waves of vibrations through the earth's interior. These vibrations create earthquakes!

Oceanic Collision- One plate is sliding under the other.  The bottom plate starts to melt from the heat and pressure. It becomes new magma that floats up between two plates. This creates mountains and sometimes volcanoes.

Continent Collision- Two continental plates collide cause mountain ranges and volcanoes. An example of this is the Himalayas.
